Yesterday the first University basket ball practice of the year was held in the Gymnasium. In the absence of head coach E. L. Burnham, '07, H. R. Snyder acted as coach. After a short preliminary practice the University team line up against the second team for a short scrimmage. In the first half the second team played a fast game and led with the score of 8 to 6, but the University team braced in the second half and won with the score of 15 to 10. John Harvard was admitted a member of the church on November 6, 1637, and a short time afterward he was made its pastor. There are few records of his ministry, except that he preached and prayed with evidences of strong feeling and affection, and that "his own heart was delighted with his ministrations." He was given the Charlestown parish in 1637, but remained pastor of the church a little less than a year, for he died on the 14th of September, 1638. Peabody '69 will gave a short address at 5 o'clock on the life and work of Bishop Brooks in relation to Harvard University. The University quartet will sing the following selections: "Integer Vitae," Fleming; Brahm's "Lullaby", and the "Dominum fac," of Gounod.
