...shower of Leonids Friday night was considerably smaller and less satisfactory than that of the preceding evening. In all one hundred and forty-seven meteors were observed in the course of the evening at the Harvard Observatory of which eighty-three were Leonids. The shower did not commence until after 12 and was at its height between 2 and 3 o'clock. From the reports of Pacific coast observatories it appears that the main shower was visible only in the west, due to the fact that the earlier daylight in the east made the Leonids invisible during the larger showers...
Over four hundred meteors were observed Thursday night at the Harvard Observatory, but only three hundred and fifty of these were Leonids, the rest consisting of the ordinary shooting stars. Comparatively few Leonids were observed until 2 o'clock, but after that the showers became thicker, and between 4.30 and 5 the majority of the number appeared. The color of the meteors was principally a light green, but in some cases they were blue and red. The trial of one unusually large one was visible for fifteen minutes. About three dozen photographs were taken and at least one Leonid...
...shower of Leonids, similar to those of 1833 and 1866, is predicted for Thursday or Friday night. This is the last time they may be expected for thirty-three years, and ample preparations have been made at the Observatory to cover the entire field of the shower. Four cameras have been mounted on a platform moved by clockwork so that they will cover the same sixty degrees of the sky, throughout the entire shower. Six other instruments will be in use for determining the spectrum, magnitude and distance of the Leonids, and the radiant from which they come...

...recent change in the arrangement of the shower baths at the Gymnasium remedies what was hitherto a serious fault of the equipment. Formerly the hot water was led from a tank containing water at a boiling temperature, and mixed with water at the same pressure by adjustment at the valves connected with each shower. Caroless turning on of the hot water or increased flow of hot water, due to the shutting off of other valves in the shower-room, frequently led to unpleasant scalding accidents. An automatic temperature regulator has now been introduced which does not allow the water...
