Barry's music is decidedly good. Farina's entrance song, the tricycle song and the trio are perhaps the best numbers in the opera, and show decided originality. But in his effort to sustain the Spanish atmosphere in the music throughout the play, the composer has scarcely escaped a certain amount of monotony and lack of definite melody. Yesterday the work of the spring football squad ended with the annual contests in kicking and passing. Not many of the men who took part were first-class and most of them did not show up very well. Cochrane did the best work, winning the place and drop kicking, while Wrightington and Davis won the punting and passing respectively. The prizes will probably be cups and only one will be given in each event...
