The corpses also had bullet wounds, not the kind of gaping tears caused by roadside bombs. Also, most of the damage filmed inside the houses looked like it was from bullets, not from shrapnel blown in from a streetside bomb. American troops in Iraq have become masters of improvisation, like bolting jury-rigged armor to humvees to shield themselves from sniper fire and shrapnel.
