The starters in the latter were Hollister, Vincent, Bordman and Lakin of Harvard, Sichel of Pennsylvania, Kigsley of Colorado, Kilpatrick of Union and Crane of Yale. Lakin, Hollister and Vincent led in the first lap. In the second, Hollister forced the running, hotly chased by Vincent and Kilpatrick.
