...Pentagon flatly refuses to let NATO forces hunt down and arrest Karadzic and his military sidekick General Ratko Mladic. The only alternative is to persuade Milosevic to squeeze them out. After the Swedish official charged with implementing the civilian provisions of Dayton, Carl Bildt, tried for two weeks in vain to get Milosevic going, the U.S. set to work, and Milosevic reluctantly promised late last week, following several jawboning sessions with U.S. diplomats, that "the skids are greased" for Karadzic's imminent political demise...

DRAGONHEART (May 31). Can Dennis Quaid ever star in a hit movie? Maybe, if he plays a medieval bounty hunter and his sidekick is a chummy beast animated by suave computer graphics and voiced by Sean Connery. It's Braveheart meets Pete's Dragon: burly whimsy on the hoof...

He owns a trim little house (complete with worrisome mortgage), yearns for the settled life and narrates his adventures in a style that avoids the lush metaphors Chandler favored. He even has a sidekick, Mouse (Don Cheadle), a genial psychopath in a bowler hat, comically eager to rub out anyone who crosses his path, whether he deserves it or not. He's a scene stealer, but so is everyone else Easy encounters: the nervously sexyBeals, a brutal-funny fixer with ambiguous loyalties (Tom Sizemore), an epicene politician (Maury Chaykin...
