...lonely, life is disrupted when little Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) enlists the beast to track down Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz), whom the monarch seeks to make his bride. Joining Shrek in this journey, due to the law mandated by Animation Codes and Regulations Section 231b, is a wacky sidekick. In this case, that character takes the form of a donkey, aptly named Donkey (ha!) and voiced by Eddie Murphy. Needless to say, the two adventurers rescue the princess, and hijinks ensue...

...park-like kingdom to Shrek's swamp. In order to live in peace, Shrek strikes a deal with Farquaad: if the ogre rescues Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from her enchanted castle, the evil ruler will remove the new members of Shrek's swamp community. Add an incessantly talking donkey sidekick (voiced by Eddie Murphy) to the mix, and you have yourself one twisted, yet potentially hilarious fairy tale. By the end of the week the Arizona Senator, his sidekick, Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, and their merry band of china breakers actually had victory in sight--a victory that could lead to the most dramatic campaign-finance overhaul since the post-Watergate reforms of 1974. McCain-Feingold's reforms are so sweeping, in fact, that no one can be sure...

...human. Or droids. Or even wookies. In an interview with the technology-news website CNet, Rob Coleman, one of the wizards at George Lucas' famously secretive special-effects shop Industrial Light & Magic, confirmed that this time around, a computer-generated character will play a lead role, not just a sidekick--a first for a full-length live-action film. (Insert obligatory Jar-Jar Binks joke here...
