But it may also reflect the fact that males are a fashionable subject again. The men's movement, and the rise of male-simpatico feminists like Susan Faludi, have lent quaint Wabash a hip cachet. "An important liberal-arts ideal is 'Know thyself,'" says Wabash president Andrew Ford. "Sometimes you can do that best, or more comfortably, among your own gender, and we offer that choice...

...emotional territory of Simpatico, the most recent work by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard, is something familiar to Kellerman. His production last year of David Mamet's American Buffalo in the Loeb Ex explored the same realm of underworld deceit and betrayal, the same search for loyalty and friendship that marks this play. Carter is the only character to have profited from the blackmail scandal, but Modigliani is wise enough to show that his success and power are as much mental creations as they...

...BUZZ: This play is not only the first Shepard play to be done at Harvard in at least three to four years, but it is also a city-wide Boston premiere of Simpatico. Sam Shepard has won enough drama awards, not to mention a Pulitzer, to make his return to Harvard something to be excited about...
