...potentially fine picture. The basic idea is a fine one: a white convict and a black one escape from a chain gang together. They hate one another as only a poor white and a down-trodden negro can; but they must co-operate in even the simplest act of daily life...

...breed in tight little island size. Wright and his wife recently exported the message to a new birth control clinic in Trinidad, there met the same obstacle that baffles all modern Malthusians-contraceptives are just too much bother for the earth's fastest-breeding peoples. Trinidadians shunned the simplest mechanical devices, which Wright sadly pronounced, in any case, "an upper-mental-class activity, no good at all for Indians, Indonesians or Japanese." Light Molecules. The simplest kind of atomic engine uses a nuclear reactor to heat a gaseous propellant and shoot it out of a nozzle. Its chief advantage over chemical rocket engines: its propellant can be liquid hydrogen, whose molecules are light and therefore move faster at a given temperature. The best possible chemical combination (hydrogen and ozone), burning at 5,000° F. and 500 lbs.-per-sq.-in. chamber pressure, gives an exhaust velocity of 13,000 ft. per sec. A nuclear rocket, using hydrogen at the same pressure and only 3,000° F., shoots...
