They are full of questions and perceptions which are usually sharper than most people will give them credit for. In one sentence, Coles quotes a young girl who has synthesized her human instincts, with a tidbit from the maid and something "Daddy" said, and the reader is left with an insightful summary of capitalism in its more distressing form.
