Dayan's ultimate sin, however, is that he has increasingly irritated Golda Meir. She dislikes his hawk-dove vacillation. She frets at the time consumed in Cabinet sessions discussing Dayan. Disagreements between the two have become a clash of personalities. When Dayan began a lengthy explanation of his Suez disengagement plan to the Cabinet recently, Mrs. Meir acidly interrupted to ask whether an old woman who knew nothing about defense could insert a question. Dayan fell silent...
...deadly jests. The play moves like a venomous centipede through rape, incest, fratricide, adultery and bloody multiple murder. Early on, Tourneur has Vendice say, "To be honest is not to be i' the world." It establishes the odor of a play that contains the stench of sin and a lung-blackening smog of corruption. Robert Brustein, who directs an able cast with a firm, brisk hand, doubtless sees The Revenger's Tragedy as a cautionary parable for a later age steeped in blood and death and degraded values. The trouble is that rubbing one's nose...

...FLAWS in Loeb productions seems to be something built-in, permanent, like original sin. One would like to write them away, especially when a fine play like Dirty Hands is just waiting there to disturb people and set their preconceptions spinning about in ugly chaos. Unfortunately, even a heavy dose of blind faith (I want to believe!) can't change this jeremiad into a hymn to Loeb rediviva. The massive painted backdrop, the portentous music between acts, the stilted acting all stand between this Loeb company and effective communication of Sartre's conception. This does not imply that David Boorstin...
...October 1969, James F. Cunningham, Paulist priest of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Chicago, announced that careless driving is a "serious sin against society, fellow man and God" and that "traffic safety is a religious and moral problem as well as a physical and educational one." Last April 15 in the Herald Traveler, Rabbi Judea B. Miller of the Massachusetts Board of Rabbis, objected to that paper's picturing grapes as part of Passover Feasts. He said the Massachusetts Board of Rabbis was supporting the California grape boycott, had determined it to be a religious and moral issue...
