Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla., is willing to follow the signs wherever they lead. For an hour every Sunday morning, teens in torn jeans and worn sneakers carry their Good Books and skateboards to the New Breed class. A boy with tattoos asked for the courage to stay in school. A girl requested help with her alcoholic father. "This is what Jesus did. He reached people at all levels, not just those who were dressed well," says Buck Waters, the pastor, who also runs a surfing ministry. "We are calling our entire membership to a new level of faith...
...sweet and helpful. He suggests that he come to my office for this interview. And when he gets sick and has to reschedule, he shows up on time at the restaurant, with a grocery bag of gifts for me--a sweatshirt and T shirt from one of the three skateboard companies he owns. He's like a divorced dad. But he doesn't take the time to prepare any pranks. When I ask him why he can't at least make the effort, he doesn't have an answer. The sweatshirt means nothing...
...heart of the Hy-wire, however, is the aluminum, skateboard-like chassis that runs the length of the vehicle. Nestled within it are the fuel cells, an electric motor, tanks of compressed hydrogen and all the electronics. So you could in theory drive a sports car on the weekends and change it into a minivan to haul the kids to school...

He earned millions but was known to arrive at work on a skateboard. And in 1998 he changed his given name, Brian Williams, to Bison Dele, as a tribute to his Native American and African ancestors...
Researchers at General Motors have shown one of the most innovative approaches to fuel-cell cars with the Hy-wire prototype, unveiled this year. Gone are the engine, transmission and gas tank found in today's internal-combustion cars. In their place is a skateboard-like platform--just 6 in. thick--that houses the fuel cells, the hydrogen tank and all the electronics that are needed to power the car. Electric motors placed inside each wheel get the car rolling. Because the steering controls are all electronic--a concept known as "drive by wire"--gone, too, is the mechanical steering...
