Ecuador accepted a ceasefire proposed by neighboring countries and the U.S. in the weeklong military skirmish with Peru, but Peru refused to cooperate. Representatives of the two countries are meeting in Brazil to try and resolve the border clash, which escalated into armed conflict three weeks ago. Unofficial reports say more than 20 Peruvians and 30 Ecuadorians have been killed so far.
