...Graham's trial reveals shocking ineptitude. His defense lawyer, Ronald Mock, didn't call a single witness during the proceedings, essentially allowing the capital murder charge to go unchallenged. It wouldn't have been all that tough for Mock to do his job with a degree of competence: Slim evidence links Graham to the crime; several eyewitnesses have said Graham was not the man they saw at the murder scene, and when he was arrested, Graham was carrying a different gun than that used in the murder...

Echo Park, now playing at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem, is an early attempt to combine the outsider rhythms of hip-hop with the conventions of musical theater. Echo Park's story line is slim and simple: Scott Jenkins (Derrik "Nine" Keyes), a young man growing up in the early days of rap, longs to be a deejay but has to persuade his mother Bertha (DK Dyson) to let him follow his dreams. How can Americans wonder why tragedies such as Jonesboro and Columbine happen when music with offensive lyrics like Eminem's are out there for any and all to absorb? Don't listen to Eminem's degrading lyrics. If he doesn't have an audience, he has no career. There is much better music around. KENDAL DAVIS Hubertus...

...comes to incipient memory loss, I've got good reason to worry. I'm in my mid-40s, the age at which most no-longer-babyish boomers begin to notice that many of the faculties they used to take for granted--eyesight, stamina, the ability to fit into slim-cut khakis--are starting to go. If those things fade, why shouldn't memory? Then there's genetics. While the members of my extended family often live deep into their 90s, by the time they hit their 70s, a lot of their cognitive lights have typically begun to flicker, and memory...
