With 52% Russians supporting the slogan "Russia for Russians," and with many increasingly sympathetic to those who attack immigrants, the courts may well be lenient. "Racist attacks happen with shocking regularity in Russia, and the government is shirking its responsibilities and failing to confront the problem," Amnesty International said in its May 2006 report on hate crime in Russia. ...here is that it's not just Ferrell. John C. Reilly, as Ricky Bobby's best friend, is hilarious, serving as his teammate in early scenes (coining their grocery store-inspired slogan: "Shake and Bake") and then as his nemesis later on. Amy Adams, as Ricky Bobby's unexpected romantic interest, wins us over with only a few lines of dialogue. "I'm tempted to get him a coffee mug with the slogan WORLD'S WORST JOB," a Western diplomat told me in May, when al-Maliki was sworn in. "They've just handed him a toothbrush and told him to clean up the mountain of a mess left by [former U.S. administrator] Paul Bremer, Allawi and [former Prime Minister Ibrahim] al-Jaafari...

...thing; you are meant to be enveloped in a sort of ur-American nimbus that recalls every place and no place. Applebee's outlets tend to be built in suburbs that have no distinct identity on their own - no distinct "neighborhood" - which is why Applebee's slogan ("Eatin' good in the neighborhood") is so brilliant. It recalls the exact thing that's lacking...
