Zdenek ("the Red Grandfather") Nejedly, the new Minister of Education, declared: "Stalin's picture will return to the classrooms. This is not merely a matter of a picture, but a conception of national life." The newspaper Svobodne Slovo (meaning "Free World") was retitled Nova Politika ("New Politics"). Foreign publications (including TIME & LIFE) were banned. The Ministry of Information instructed foreign correspondents to stop "malicious distortion of news."
