...England Journal of Medicine, the study is the largest and longest of its kind to date. University of Pennsylvania researchers recruited 141 breast-cancer patients with a diagnosis of stable lymphedema. Half of them participated in a biweekly 90-min. weight-lifting program, which involved the slow, progressive addition of weight machines and free weights, up to as much weight as patients could comfortably lift; the other half of the patients did not lift weights at all. Apparently, I wasn’t alone. Almost 65,000 listeners turned out that Saturday night—braving massive crowds on the T, warm-weather mosquitoes, never-ending (and incredibly slow-moving) lines. I found myself sandwiched between anxiously-waiting attendees as I scanned the crowd for my friends, who I had stupidly planned to meet at the venue. ...born outside the U.S., revived by the likes of CNN's Lou Dobbs. Sharkbite Summer (Aug. 4) looks back eight years to when a few high-profile shark attacks sent the media into their own feeding frenzy. The summer of 2001, postrecount and pre-9/11, was notoriously slow on news. (Hence, it was also the season of the Chandra Levy media circus.) So when an 8-year-old boy was mauled by a bull shark in Florida, a hungry press attacked...
