With a lead of two runs to overcome, Harvard rallied in the ninth. Briggs went out, Grebenstein to Schildmiller, and McCall struck out. With two down, Captain Dexter beat out a slow grounder to shortstop and immediately stole second. Simons advanced him with a pretty single to centre and took second on a fielder's choice. Leonard was put in to bat for Pounds and scored Dexter with a hit past third. Pritchett, the last man up, knocked a low fly to- wards second which was caught by Norton...

...orders of the Freshman crews have been kept the same throughout the week, with the exception of Waid, who was moved to 3 in the first crew from 6 in the second. The work yesterday was very encouraging at times, although the men were slow at the catch. It consisted mainly of short stretches and racing starts between the first and second crews. Myers, who has been doing well at stroke, has been sick for the past few days, but is expected back soon, when he will probably be put in at stroke in the first crew...

Bates apparently has a faster team than last year, when Harvard shut them out, 4 to 0, in a slow game with Greene in the box. They have victories over Tufts, Andover and Exeter to their credit, and have hit the ball hard in all their games. Johnson, who will pitch this afternoon, allowed Harvard only five scattered hits last year, but received poor support. The batting orders: HARVARD. BATES. Harvey, c.f. c.f., Bridges McCall, 2b. l.f., Rogers Dexter, l.f. r.f., Wight Simons, s.s. 1b., Bowman Pounds, r.f. c., Boothby Waters, 1b. s.s., Cobb Pritchett, 3b. 2b., Cole Currier...

...Friday last, the Columbia eight covered about three miles in short stretches on the Harlem river; and on Saturday the men were given a long four-mile pull. Friday the eight started out from their boathouse on Waterman's Creek and rowed downstream for the first mile at a slow stroke, about 24 to the minute. Then they increased the speed for the last half-mile downstream, and on the trip back to the boathouse had seven racing starts against their second crew. With the slow stroke the eight did not row well together; their boat rocked continually...

...weather conditions. None of the eights were on the water from Saturday until Wednesday and consequently when they took to the water they showed the lack of practice. The University crew seems lifeless, and during the last few days has not been rowing together well, rushing the slide and slow at the catch. Yesterday the University and second crews had a short spurt, and the second crew, rowing at a higher stroke than the first, pushed them hard. The second crew has been rowing rather irregularly in the orders, and Burr, who has sat at 5, will not be able...
