Banishing smokers from offices, restaurants, malls and airplanes has been a big success--for nonsmokers anyway. The Centers for Disease Control reports that the levels of toxic chemicals produced in nonsmokers' blood by secondhand smoke have plunged more than 75% since they were last measured 10 years ago.
