...University eleven defeated Amherst yesterday by the score of 11 to 0 in a game which showed general improvement in the work of the team. The linemen played with more snap than previously and charged quickly, but did not throw their opponents back far enough. For the first time this year the interference worked smoothly and effectively...

...practice yesterday was an improvement over Monday's. The first eleven scored twice on the second, and the men got into the plays with more energy and snap. There was still a tendency to fumble, but only once did this result seriously. An encouraging feature was the quick and effective formation of interference on end runs, of which the backs were quick to take advantage. Greene and Sugden did not play yesterday and Cutler of the Freshman squad played centre on the second...

...Freshman nine lost to the Boston Latin School team yesterday in a carelessly played game, by the score of 12 to 11. The defeat was the natural result of the carelessness and lack of snap which has characterized the team's practice for some time. The infield played poorly, missing many easy chances. Neither Hutchinson nor Alexander, who replaced him in the fifth inning, pitched effectively, and they were especially weak when men were on bases. White, the Latin School pitcher, was steady and fairly effective. Parker supported the Freshman pitchers well, and caught six men attempting to steal second...

...baseball nine won the second game from Dartmouth on the University diamond Saturday afternoon by a score of 11 to 2. Both teams lacked life and snap, and the game was very slow and uninteresting. Harvard showed better judgment in batting and base-running than in Friday's game, and in general made a tolerably good showing for this time of year. All three of Harvard's errors were inexcusable and were the direct causes of Dartmouth's two runs. The Dartmouth players, though at times they handled the ball with good speed and accuracy, were very unreliable, and generally...

...candidates for the University lacrosse team reported for practice last Wednesday. Since then they have been practicing hard for the opening game of the season, next Saturday, with the Crescent Athletic Club on Soldiers Field. The work has been characterized by snap and energy, and the prospects for a strong team are good. Particular attention is being given to fast and accurate stick work, and to the development of team play, which is weak owing to the number of new men on the squad...
