...advertising a fictional "Darkie" beer. The poster, captioned "Washington Swung with Darkies," shows the first President's portrait on a dollar bill. "George Washington, the old United States secessionist," said the text, "had an excessive fondness for black slaves, according to legend. He used to sneak out of his home silently at night and head for the slave quarters, where he would abuse them. For us, a Darkie is not a person but a beer which we make for your enjoyment." Within 48 hours, Fonseca had sold 745 of his initial press...
Gould is so busy making movies that he has little time to watch them; occasionally, he has to sneak out of business meetings just to get in an hour on the basketball court. Brodsky-Gould Productions has already produced one movie (Feiffer's Little Murders) and has an enviable list of properties waiting ?Bernard Malamud's The Assistant, for example, and Bruce Jay Friedman's new novel The Dick. The partners plan to make at least four more films by the end of next year, including a freeform adaptation of that bestselling catechism, Everything You Always Wanted to Know...

The flights may also be an effort to test the U.S. response; since there was no reaction following the first two flights in April, four more followed...
...unlock the lock was smaller than the cost of the lock itself. But bars on the window are another matter. In our office, they are screwed into years-old wood which would never withstand a good, strong kick, negating their effectiveness at the outset. The assumption that protestors would sneak in a basement window rather than march openly through normal entryways I also find offensive. Barred windows will not stop revolution and I feel it is a needlessly expensive indulgence of a frightened University...
...American smugglers at the rate of 40 per month. In Morocco, five Americans have been arrested on drug charges in the past five weeks. Last week in Lebanon, Morocco's main rival as a Mecca for drug-seeking tourists, police arrested eight youthful Americans who were trying to sneak some 70 kilos of hash out of the country. The catch brought Lebanon's current population of Americans imprisoned on drug charges to 15, pushing the country ahead of Italy (12) and Greece (13), and closer to the league leaders, which are Spain (about 50 jailed Americans) and West...
