Dartmouth College, having experimented for twelve years with the selective process of admissions, has now decided to extend, it as the sole basis for choosing applicants. Prospective freshmen will be considered on individual standards, entrance unit requirements are to be abolished, and the approved school will become a vestigial organ in Hanover. The decision comes as the result of a feeling that the present qualifications are both impersonal and meaningless, and is intended to exert a humanizing influence upon the somewhat Prussian character of admission brochures...

...among the chief implications of personalized admission is an increased flexibility in standards. If this purpose were not in the background, admission rules and a selective system need not be mutually exclusive, for inflexible standards might be applied and a personal evaluation made of the survivors. As the sole system in use, selective admission must lower standards, and the decline must be reflected in the secondary schools whose graduation requirements are already painfully lax. France's position on the monetary exchange is considerably jeepardized by Roosevelt's action, since it leaves her as the sole large power still on the gold standard. She will naturally endeavor earnestly to convince America through the overtures of Herriot to climb aboard the gold standard again...

...idea is not new. In 1871 Dr. J. T. Hodgen of St. Louis sprinkled scrapings from the soles of patients' feet upon healthy open wounds. He found that the small bits of sole grew rapidly, quickly covered the wound with new skin. In 1899 Dr. J. L. Wiggins of East St. Louis reported success with Dr. Hodgen's method. In 1909 Dr. Lyman W. Childs of Cleveland published a modification of Dr. Hodgen's method in the Southern Medical Society's Journal. Dr. Childs removed small cubes of the outer layers of skin, partially dried them...
