Claudio Guillen, professor of Comparative Literature, and the sole member of the Faculty Council to voice public support for the gay students' efforts, says that some of the Faculty Council members feared, "If we give them this non-discrimination policy, does this not amount to almost a recommendation of homosexuality?"
