Steven Guzman is only 12, but he's booked solid. He wakes up at 6 every weekday morning, downs a five-minute breakfast, reports to school at 7:50, returns home at 3:15, hits the books from 5 to 9 (with a break for dinner) and goes to sleep at 10:30. Saturdays are little better: from 9 to 5 he attends a prep program in the hope of getting a scholarship to a private school. Then there are piano lessons and a couple of hours of practice a week. If he's lucky, he'll squeeze...
While Harris argues that there is little parents can do to mitigate the influence of other kids, Marano insists that parents can inoculate their children by giving them a solid grounding in social skills and helping them handle problems effectively when they arise. Teachers, psychologists and kids themselves tend to side with Marano and against the theory of powerlessness proposed by Harris. Parents are vital to a child's social well-being, they insist, and they offer lots of ideas about how parents can boost a child's success with peers...
Back in 1994, at the request of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against Borden Chemicals, accusing the company of a series of environmental-law violations. Among the charges: the company stored hazardous waste, sludges and solid wastes illegally; failed to install containment systems; burned hazardous waste without a permit; neglected to report the release of hazardous chemicals into the air; contaminated groundwater beneath the plant site (thereby threatening an aquifer that provides drinking water for residents of Louisiana and Texas); and shipped toxic waste laced with mercury to South Africa without notifying...

Principal dancer Amanda McKerrow shone in her artistry. Gillian Murphy and Sascha Radetsky, both corps de ballet dancers, exhibited amazing technical skill with solid, high jumps and fast turns; they need to work on the transition steps between each technical feat that will provide a softness and fluidity that they lack...
...level of maturity and subtlety. Appearances are often deceptive, and if you've seen Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and the recurring "S.N.L." skit "Canteen Boy," then you can piece together Sandler's stupid, bayou-bred mama's boy, Bobby Bouchet. Bouchet, after learning how to channel his aggression into solid hits, goes from being the village idiot/waterboy to being a tackle that makes William "The Refrigerator" Perry look like the Maytag repair man. The plot is weak, but Sandler's hilarious physical comedy is reminiscent of Jerry Lewis. You'll like it if you liked the others. Christopher R. Blazejewski
