After nearly five months in Somalia, U.S. troops, in preparation for the United Nations' assumption of full control of the country, handed over supervision of Mogadishu to more than 4,000 Pakistani soldiers. The U.S. will transfer the Somali peacekeeping mission this week to a 28,000-member U.N. force composed of troops from more than 20 nations. About 4,000 American Army troops will stay behind.
