Usage:

Concerned with nothing more than the romantic meeting and somewhat prolonged courtship of a European fortune hunter (Charles Boyer) and a Kansas-bred nightclub singer (Irene Dunne), it frequently falters in pace. It also includes a few sequences which, reminiscent of Director McCarey's work for Hal Roach, are among the most adroit cinematic touches of the year. ...this was somewhat misleading, for U. S. insurance companies make a nice distinction between claims for golf balls lost in trains, streetcars or barrooms (legitimate) and claims for balls knocked hopelessly out of bounds or into water hazards ("unfair"). They get 50 to 100 claims a year for balls lost in ordinary play, and they pay these "unfair" claims as well as fair claims unless they suspect fraud. Some companies, however, get so mad about "unfair" claims that they will not renew a claimant's policy...

Adolf Hitler wrote his inflammatory testament in 1924-26, when he was an irresponsible rabble-rouser. When he became chief of State, Mein Kampf became something of a diplomatic embarrassment. Its many German editions have been somewhat toned down. Blasts against Italy for subjugating Austrians in the Italian Tyrol were eliminated when the Rome-Berlin axis was formed. More recently it was promised that blasts against France would be withdrawn...

...other things-that Hitler's Battle now belongs to the public domain. Last week a Federal judge in Manhattan denied the injunction. Both publishers meanwhile battled against time, with the result that both translations are hurried, occasionally inaccurate, always heavy and Germanic in idiom. The Stackpole version is somewhat easier reading, the Reynal & Hitchcock job has the advantage of being annotated. Arrows and daggers handily mark the sections expurgated from the English edition...
