...Sonic Treasures. The audio quality of bootlegs ranges from good to nearly unintelligible, but demand is soaring, partly because prices are usually about half as high as for legitimate recordings. Some sonic treasures can be found only on a certain type of bootleg, the so-called "underground" variety, which is put together from snippets of previously unpublished rehearsal tapes, live concerts and even radio broadcasts. The classic example is Great White Wonder, a hot seller that was made up of unused Bob Dylan tapes, some of which Dylan fans claim had been stolen from the basement of his Woodstock home...

...Government contends that the letters are authentic. If so, a kidnap plot certainly was discussed, although it is also clear that no violence to Kissinger was planned. The notion of kidnaping Kissinger and grilling him while cameras grind and tunnel explosions provide a sonic background seems a fanciful and irrational exercise for well-educated clerics. ...than mere nostalgia to recommend it. Most LP transfers of 78 material change and degrade the original sound. But the new old 78s will have both unfiltered high frequencies and unrumbled lows. Hardly comparable to the sound of the LP era, they nevertheless restore a forgotten adequacy of the sonic -and artistic-achievements of the past. As a result, nearly forgotten singers like Conchita Supervia, Fernando de Lucia and Maria Nemeth will be resurrected and sent along to collectors in their original sonic quality...
