Bespectacled Chartmaker Pitirim Alexandrovich Sorokin was born in Russia 45 years ago. His studies of violence have not been entirely academic. He was imprisoned thrice under the Tsarist regime for radicalism, thrice by the Bolshevists for conservatism.
