Here shoeless locals and the expats who make up Düsseldorf's expanding Japanese population - the third largest in Europe - enjoy fresh sashimi and piping-hot udon curled up on tatami mats strewn with feather cushions, while others sip sake at a candlelit bar scattered with driftwood.
