Plans for the new stadium have gone forward rapidly since the state legislature passed an appropriation of $20,000 of the erection of the first section of the new stadium. This section, which will be large enough to accommodate 5,000 people, will be semi-circular in form and will contain 40 rows of seats. It will be built in such a way that it can be extended around the two sides and perhaps in the future be made into a bowl enclosing the entire field...

Freshman hockey candidates will be called out about a week later than the University squad. Their practice will consist of drill in the rudiments of the game until the ice rinks in the Stadium are ready for use. This will probably be directly after the Christmas recess. The Freshman squad will remain as a unit until after Christmas, when a first and a second squad will be chosen. The three dormitory teams will be picked from the latter squad and will engage in the regular series for the inter-dormitory championship...

Granville Barker, the English playwright and manager, will speak on "Ideas in the Theatre" in Emerson D this evening at 8 o'clock. ...track team is in need of candidates for the hammer-throw for the spring season. Coach Clark is at Soldiers Field between the Stadium and the baseball stand every afternoon from 2.30 to 4.30 o'clock. The team is especially weak in the hammer-throw and if a victory is to be won from Yale next spring it is necessary that candidates report this fall while the weather remains such that practice can be held out deers. Furthermore, by learning the essentials now, fully a month's head start will be gained on those who start next spring...
