...predator mosquito that has raised the hopes of USDA scientists is a creature with the formidable name of Toxorhynchites rutilus rutilus. During its larval stage in stagnant water, the mosquito feeds on the larvae of more common, biting and disease-carrying cousins, like the Aedes aegypti, which also breeds in pools and water-filled containers. Although the Tx. rutilus is found from Florida to Canada and as far west as Texas, it is not very prolific by insect standards and does not exist naturally in numbers large enough to control the population of other mosquitoes. That deficiency presents no problem...
Outside the mines the Shaba economy is stagnant. The only development in the area is the investment by OTRAG, a huge West German company, in a rocket-testing site near Lubumbashi. Mobutu gave the site, covering hundreds of kilometers, to OTRAG in much the same way colonies were assigned to European monopolies in the 19th century. OTRAG may remove the inhabitants and establish its own laws; its personnel are not subject to Zaire laws. The site borders on Zambia and Tanzania, and is only a few hundred kilometers from Angola--a fact that has made these independent countries understandably nervous...

Continual rate increases probably have discouraged greater use of the mails. The Postal Service will go even further into...
RECENT SURVEYS REVEAL that each American family spends an average of six hours per night mesmerized by a television set, passively absorbing the fictional universe of stagnant soaps and muddled mysteries. Still, this mere spectator's role cannot satisfy the modern imagination, so it is easy to understand the surging popularity of Citizens' Band (CB) radio, which solicits audience participation in electronic media. A CB operator finds the radio a suitable stage for the enactment of daydreams. Serving as an outlet for the hidden personalities of its users, CB becomes either a creative or a destructive tool for individual fantasies...
...whom are perfectly capable, but whose place in a Harvard undergraduate production is, at best, questionable. But Company is worth seeing; in a world full of light, trashy musicals, even this problematic production successfully displays an attempt to grapple with both the complexities of human relationships and the stagnant format of the American musical...
