...existence of a code between blacks and whites, few characters seem conscious of a similar code between men and women. The male dominates the female in buck, whether it be Brett silencing Jane’s voice of resistance, Lincoln having sex with Jane as a mere bodily stand-in for the white women, or Robert Aniston denying his wife Amanda’s claim that her sex with Lincoln was consensual...
Scott Shriner, the stand-in bassist, did an excellent job performing with the three veterans. Though his lines blended perfectly into the songs, his tight shirt and muscles didn’t quite fit with the geek look of the band. Drummer Patrick Wilson started playing the wrong song once, but shrugged it off easily. Rhythm guitarist Brian Bell played a tremendous set, while Rivers Cuomo effortlessly sang his part. His brilliant lyrics touched the crowd by evoking the universal experience of being un-cool...

He sings "True Love" to Grace Kelly (a stand-in for Kathryn); he bests Sinatra in their duet-duel "Well, Did You Evah." And in the four flavorful minutes of "Now You Has Jazz," with Armstrong and his band, Crosby displays his vocal and verbal acuity in top form. This song, like the one with Sinatra, was considerably revised - ad-libbed, if you like - from Cole Porter's text. Bing's asides...
