Cornell has honored only two men? the late Andrew Dickson White and David Starr Jordan. An unbaked tradition says that a cause for Cornell's not giving honorary degrees is the outcry that arose?in and out of Cornell but especially in?over Dr. David Starr Jordan's unflinching pacifism during the War.
