There is plenty of fine open country between Fresh and Spy ponds and toward Watertown, Belmont, Arlington and Mystic Lake, where the best advantages of cross-country running may be had without injury to anyone. Nor would the distance be too great if the hares would start directly for the open country...
Yesterday afternoon about a dozen men took part in the bicycle run to Lexington and Waltham. The start was from in front of the Hemenway Gymnasium at 4.15, and the men arrived back in Cambridge at about 6 o'clock. The run out was along Massachusetts avenue through Lexington, the return being made by way of Waverly and Belmont. Most of the return home was down grade and consequently a very brisk pace was set. Captain Burdette had charge of the men. Next Friday there will be a road race...
