Everything is to be gained from a good start, and from all appearances the Freshman football team has lost no time in getting under way. Freshman teams since 1903 have regularly been defeated by Groton in one of the early games of the season and it is pleasing to have this string of defeats broken. Not that it is particularly discouraging when a Freshman team loses its first game after it has only been formed a few days and is pitted against school teams much further advanced; it is much better, however, if they can win under these circumstances...

The class of 1907 was the last to win their game from Yale and it is high time this record was changed. Yale also made a good start yesterday by defeating Andover in a close game. ...Wilder '09 won the intercollegiate golf championship Saturday afternoon by defeating T. Briggs '09, 6 up and 5 to play, in the final match of 36 holes. Wilder played a steady game, at no time being less than two holes in the lead. Briggs got a poor start and was unable to overcome Wilder's lead as the match progressed...
