After the next kick-off, the University team advanced the ball steadily to within striking distance of the Maine goal, where Starr tried two drop kicks, both of which failed. At the start, Starr secured the ball on Maine's kick-off after Foster had fumbled it. Lockwood made a gain of over 15 yards around right end. After a five-yard gain by Foster, several forward passes were tried, on one of which Maine secured the ball.
