...Miami, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., any law-abiding citizen can freely buy a pistol and stash it at home. But carrying it on one's person, even openly in a holster, requires a permit that police rarely issue. Not more than 20 Washingtonians are so licensed. Many states ban almost any "concealed" weapon, including blackjacks, brass knuckles and even slingshots. Although tear-gas Pen-guns are legal in most states, the notable exceptions of New York, Illinois and California cover the nation's biggest, most perilous cities. It is often illegal to carry even a water pistol...
Soaking & Sipping. Winter skiers rise before dawn, bundle into long Johns, sweaters, parkas and mittens, stash away a high-calorie breakfast, and hit the slopes in a hurry to salvage every instant of scarce daylight, determined to get as much as they can out of the short day, the long drive and the considerable expense. He made some quick killings in real estate, and has settled down to quiet dabbling. Slash's cash has enabled the Radziwills to furnish their elegant Georgian...
Last year Britain's Debrett set had some etiquette pointers for the Radziwills. After accompanying the President of the U.S. and his wife to a dinner at Buckingham Palace, they were listed on the official court calendar as Prince and Princess. Proper Britons boggled over the fact that Stash is now a British subject, thus could correctly use his title only if he had a special license from the Queen, which might be as hard to get as some annulments. The accepted explanation for the faux pas was that palace protocol officers consciously elevated the Radziwills on that occasion...
