Sirs: Recently, a Detroit newstand-buyer of TIME wrote you in gloating terms, told how he gave your publication publicity by calling for his copy at the magazine stand here at the Statler Hotel, in a loud voice, and that when the girl attendant handed him a copy of the Hearst Times, he spelled it out for her in a loud voice. There seems to be no reason for such blatant, goatlike manners. If he used such mannersin ordering a copy of Liberty, or Snappy Stories, it could be understood, but not with TIME. Furthermore, I have been buying magazines...

ONLY recently Young's Hotel and the Adams House, almost the last of Boston's hotels of distinctive character, closed their doors. Only a little less recently, a new Ritz-Carlton and a new Statler opened theirs, alike in name, menu, and bath room fixtures to a dozen other Statlers and Ritz-Cartons in a dozen other cities...

...many "Drive-It-Yourself" concerns which have invaded the Square. They invariably send many hounded students to the sheltering legal wings of the Board. One Harvard student from Switzerland, having rented a "U-Drive-It" vehicle and meandered over to Boston in it, finally parked beside the Statler and left his coat and hat in the car. When he returned he found his habiliments missing, but being unperturbed drove back to Cambridge. As he climbed out of the car he was arrested and charged with having stolen it. Dumb-founded over his mistake he pleaded innocense...
