...Upon closer inspection, students are likely to find a remarkable congruence with their own views: stewardship of the environment, a “humble” foreign policy, humane and fair immigration laws, and respect for the sanctity of life—whether it be life threatened by political unrest in Kenya or by inhumane practices of partial-birth abortion at home. Similarly, Huckabee’s Fair Tax proposal appeals to both populist-minded liberals and spending-hawk conservatives...

Turkey has long been hostile to the emerging power of Iraq's Kurdish minority, located primarily in northern Iraq. A U.S.-educated economist, and the daughter of a former Philippine President, Arroyo presented the image of a competent, if comparatively uncharismatic, technocrat. Indeed, the Philippines has made considerable economic strides under her stewardship, posting 7.5% GDP growth last quarter - the highest in 20 years - and paying down a massive government deficit. Arroyo's government has attracted millions of dollars in foreign investment - no small beer for a country where political instability and a crushing debt load have often made investors wary. Arroyo has also made...
