...Taiwan and China have always been tense. Your story quoted a retired U.S. Navy admiral as saying that offensive missiles for Taiwan are "really stupid." I can understand that the U.S. government does not want to see either Taiwan or China make any careless moves that would provoke cross-strait tensions. Still, it is important to remember that China has always claimed it will not give up the right to occupy Taiwan by force.
