...consider British TV news programs "low key and kind of boring" ((PRESS, July 20)), but the viewers are presented with the news and nothing more. After returning from two years in England, I was dismayed by American news broadcasts with the anchor popularity contests, the cutesy chitchat, the endless stream of "live from" reports that impart little substance. The U.S. networks could learn some valuable lessons from British TV news...
