Harvard was in a distinct slump from the start of the game and never seemed able to get back into its previous victorious stride. An unfamiliar field which was much springier than the one to which the University twelve was accustomed affected the Crimson's team work, and despite the sterling playing of Reed at second defense and Kelsey at goal they were unsupported by the rest of their teammates and the ball was continually in Harvard territory.
