...closing thoughts in the excerpts taken from Robert Coles' book The Moral Intelligence of Children [EDUCATION, Jan. 20] struck something deep within me, pricking my conscience. Coles writes that we must be kind and wade in over and over again with a commitment to help others. To go out of our own way to find opportunities to do good is the epitome of kindness, especially when one must overcome obstacles in order to do good. I would add to Coles' words that this "commitment to others" is not only the "heart of the journey" but also the journey...
