...album proves a mixture of signature start/stop riffs strung together by lengthy chord progressive choruses, often spelled by a soft interlude to add to dramatic effect. This album actually reveals the diversity of this typically "heavy" group. ...aptly-titled Permanent Midnight is not a movie about things that thappen so much as it is a movie about a movie. The scenes exist independently of one another, rarely referring to each other.
