When one of the female jocks would make her case for women's sports, some all-knowing basketball stud was quick to retort, "But babe, can you jam?" And so knowing that there were no organized pro women's leagues, and confident that Jimmy Connors could wipe the baseline with Chris Evert, we male jocks simply pursued our daily practice routines while snickering at the women who were trying to do pushups on their field...
...sarcasm. Occasionally he introduces a British accent for variety. Harper's Todd is an improvement, although his lumberjack appearance detracts from the credibility of his role as a Don Juan. Many of his facial gestures grate after the hundredth repetition but he still performs convincingly as the hard-drinking stud. Genovese's constant head-tossing disturbs her acting, as does her whining intonation. Buntinx's letter appears to be inconsistent with this view. Dave Dorff...
...Freddie Laker, 54, a British aviation maverick who has become the self-proclaimed St. George of cheap transatlantic air travel. His $70 million fleet of ten planes-including three 345-passenger McDonnell Douglas DC-10 jumbo trijets-is painted in the red, white and black colors of his racing stud farm. The planes now work mainly on low-cost charters, including Advance Booking Charters, which Laker helped pioneer. But his No. 1 priority -or threat, as heads of the scheduled airlines would put it-is Skytrain, his proposed cheap ($135 one way), no-frills transatlantic air shuttle service...
