Somehow we drift into a captivating if zany discourse on the obscure matter of New York State electoral politics. It's a subject he's particularly interested in, for some reason, and I'm more than happy to share what little information I've gleaned about the key state-wide races. ...daily stories. The features are uniformly better edited and less problematic. Surely, it cannot be that difficult to ensure that at least one editor from every beat is on duty on any given night. Then the daily stories, too, could be edited by someone who knows something about the subject matter. It would also ensure a modicum of consistency in editorial policy. Secondly, confirming quotations should be made a blanket policy in all cases. If extending this courtesy in 50 percent more cases would cut down on 100 percent of the complaints, surely the extra trouble would be worthwhile...

Produced by his girlfriend and roommate, Yuka Honda of the band Cibo Matto, the album explores a single subject: their love affair. This may sound familiar, yet Into the Sun has a sturdy, radiant optimism all its own. Home and Bathtub, two of the finest songs on the record, are typical: Lennon uses the warm sounds of acoustic guitars and glowing synthesizers to limn scenes of romanticized domesticity...

Newt Gingrich, trying to figure out how the campaign-finance investigation could be done anywhere other than Burton's committee, may have been wondering if declaring the subject within the purview of, say, the Agriculture subcommittee on livestock, dairy and poultry would be seen as too much of a stretch. The Clinton are just not easy to be caught by a pumpkin head...
