CERTAINLY, a student must be particularly aggressive in order to undertake a Special Concentration, so the warnings are reasonable. The fallacy is that maintaining such a high level of energy should be the only way to succeed in an alternative intellectual pursuit. This appears two only became Special Concentrations are the only way to achieve academic independence at Harvard...

Reagan's political strategy will succeed only if the public sees tangible evidence that his on-the-mend optimism is warranted. But even if the economy rebounds strongly, the country will still face staggering deficits. Indeed, a sudden and too robust economic revival could strangle itself by pushing interest rates back up as the Government and industries compete for loans. This concern was echoed last week in an unusually forceful report by the Congressional Budget Office. "The American economy faces unprecedented risks in the years ahead," said the report, "unless the Federal Government takes measures to narrow...

...delegates' actions last week were a dispiriting setback for an A.B.A. commission that has been working since 1977 to reshape the association's 14-year-old code of ethics. While the revisers probably will succeed in eliminating much of the confusion in the current code, which in many instances seems to offer two different standards of conduct, their further goal of heightening a lawyer's duty to the public is now out of reach. The rules approved in New Orleans are likely to be formally ratified by the A.B.A. in August, and will serve...

Instinctively, he knew the message the man was bringing...

...Only simply needs a redirection of its energies. Shows like 42nd Street and Sophisticated Ladies prove that musicals can succeed with only a slight plot or none at all. In fact, Tune's own Tony award winning Nine succeeds not because of an extemely engrossing story (its ending appears too manufactured), but because it seldom bores its audience. Tune's choreography in that show is consistently exciting, as are the costumes and set. My One and Only possesses a stylish set as well. At times, it also reveals Tune's (or Sellars's, or Walsh's) flair. Tune and Twiggy...
