...which are restricted in size and color. Of course these offerings are primarily for the members of the University, but graduates and their friends should always be welcome. If general advertising were allowed, many people would come who would really enjoy themselves and who would contribute to the financial success of the undertakings...
...success of the scrub hockey series bears witness to the increasing desire of the undergraduates to participate in intracollegiate athletics. Last year the Faculty deplored the great interest shown in intercollegiate sports to the exclusion of contests within the College, because the latter were less exacting and offered opportunities for exercise to a greater number of men than could play on the University teams. But when over 125 men take part in a minor sport series after a particularly interesting year of intercollegiate contests, this attitude seems to be unfounded. Finding a stroke for the university eight is the most serious problem before the coaches. Four men have been tried in the seat with indifferent success, and the place will probably not be definitely settled for some weeks. The most recent arrangement of the men has been as follows: stroke, Brainard; 7, Goodrich; 6, Howe; 5, Baker; 4, Hunt; 3, Wodell: 2, Glenny; bow, Rice. Then the captains and managers hit on a plan by which the assistants were to be chosen by the "H" men of the particular sport concerned...
...election of officers by a Freshman class is second only in importance to the election of permanent officers in Senior year. A class which is carefully organized and ably directed in its first year is on the high road to success and in the succeeding years will profit in full measure by a good beginning. Some years ago when the Freshman president was chosen earlier in the year it was harder to make certain of the right man unless the class was fortunate in having a man on the University football team, who had the qualities necessary for the position...
