Kevorkian had rigged a canister of carbon monoxide so that Sue, with the good hand, could push a lever to release the deadly gas. According to experts, carbon monoxide causes a headache, sometimes severe, before it kills. Sue made no mention of that but asked after several minutes why it was taking so long.
