Usage:

...running through most of Bloomsbury ("Maynard Keynes guided me to a show of Cezanne's water-colors at the Leicester Galleries") and a Who's Who of 20th century artists, writers and performers. This recitation seems forgivable. Kirstein recognizes that some of these big names were "glad enough to suffer rich idiots like myself," but he genuinely knew, learned from and helped many of the others. His own youthful dreams of being an artist went unfulfilled, but he had the sense and the dedication to help others -- principally Balanchine -- work wonders...

...without crash or crescendo, making the story believable. This story could not be told in some fairy tale because this fairy tale is real life. These are what real people do. These are the motives which cause real people to act, to weep, to have sex, and ultimately to suffer...

In Japan deflation continues to haunt the economy as banks struggle to cope with swollen portfolios of bad debts. Many Japanese firms still suffer as well from excess capacity and bloated payrolls. In Europe high interest rates, fueled by the bond market's fear of an outbreak of inflation, could still put the brakes on the recovery...
